Troubleshooting

Using Troubleshooting Chart
If you are experiencing a problem that is not listed in this
chart, see your Great Dane dealer for service.
When you have checked all the possible causes listed and
you are still experiencing the problem, see your Great
Dane dealer.
Engine
NOTE: This engine troubleshooting chart covers items
that are unique to the machine operation. See the
engine manufacturer's owner's manual provided with
your machine for detailed engine troubleshooting
procedures.
If
Poor Engine Performance
Engine Will Not Start
Engine Stops Or Misses When Operating On
Hillsides
Electrical
If
Starter Does Not Work Or Will Not Turn Engine
TROUBLESHOOTING
Check
Dirt in fuel system or fuel is old; obtain fresh fuel from another
supplier before suspecting machine problems. Suppliers blend fuels
differently and changing suppliers will generally solve any
performance problems.
Fuel blended with alcohol or ether may contribute to performance
problems by causing gum and varnish deposits, especially if fuel is
stored for several weeks or more. Obtain fresh fuel.
Park brake not locked.
Control lever is not in neutral position.
PTO/clutch switch is in engaged position.
Fuel shutoff valve is in off position.
Spark plug wire(s) loose or disconnected.
Improper fuel.
Plugged fuel filter.
Electrical problem-See Electrical Troubleshooting section
Fuel tank less than half full of fuel.
Check
Park brake is not locked.
PTO/clutch switch is in engaged position.
Battery terminals are corroded.
Battery not charged.
20-amp fuse is blown.
