Slide the shaft (188) through the right endplate (82) and through both tractors. Be
sure that the alignment marks on each tractor are matched on the same side of the
square drive shaft (188). See Figure 4.14.

Complete the installation by reversing steps 1 through 3 above.

Set proper tension in drive belt as shown in Figure 4.13.

Remove top cover (see Paragraph 4.5.1).
2.
Remove drive shaft (see Paragraph 4.5.30).

In step 3 of Paragraph 4.5.29, remove the left bearing (91) in addition to the
right bearing (91). Discard the old bearings.
4.
Insert the new bearing (91) into the left endplate (144) with the shoulder against the
outside surface of the endplate. Secure with bearing retainer (83). Do not over-
tighten screw (86) as this will deform the retainer (83) and possibly misalign the
bearing (91).
5.
Reassemble the drive shaft (188) to the printer mechanism as detailed in Paragraph
4.5.29.

1.
Remove top cover (see Paragraph 4.5.1).
2.
Release the clutch handles on both the right and left tractors (191, 181). The clutch
is released when the handle is in the "UP" position and is locked when the handle is
in the "DOWN" position.
3.
Use pliers to remove the two push-on retainers (80) on each end of the idle shaft
(187). These retainers (80) should be discarded and not reused.
4.
Move both tractors to the left end of the printer mechanism. Grasp the idler shaft
(187) near the right end and slide the shaft to the left within the rubber grommets
(79) until the right end of the shaft is free.
5.
Raise the free end of the shaft (187) slightly above the right endplate (82) and slide
the idler shaft to the right until it is free of the left endplate (144).
