Altitude and Depth

Depending on the option selected for Altitude/depth
options > Altimeter/depth gauge in the setup menu (0 196),
the camera displays and records either altitude or depth when
Yes is selected for Location data > Record location data
(0 104).

Altimeter
The altimeter can show altitudes from 500 m (1640 ft) below sea
level to 4500 m (14,760 ft) above, the depth gauge depths up to
20 m (65.6 ft).

The altimeter and depth gauge report approximate values only and are
not intended as replacements for specialized altimeters and diving
gauges. Altitude in particular is measured using air pressure and may
vary with atmospheric conditions.
Depths over 15 m (49 ft) are shown in red.
