PC Security
Dell has tested and recommends the security software products available on
Dell.com. Software protection against spyware, viruses and spam isn't foolproof but
can help to keep consumers' PCs safe from malicious software threats. Complete
security solutions that protect against viruses, spyware and spam and provide firewall
and privacy protection are available for a low price for 15 months with system
purchase. In addition to software protection, customer education and awareness is

PC Restore
Dell now installs Dell PC Restore by Symantec™ for emergency reinstallation of the OS
and software. PC Restore enables customers to quickly and easily restore the OS and
software to the original configuration as when first received by the customer. It also saves
customers time and tech support calls: no need to re-install the OS, device drivers and
applications from CD.
Dell PC Restore should be used as the last method to restore the OS and factory-installed
software. Any programs or files added since the system was purchased are permanently
deleted from the hard drive. Dell recommends customers back up all data before using
Dell PC Restore.
To start Dell PC Restore, press <Ctrl><F11> during the boot routine when the
www.dell.com splash-screen appears. The restore process takes approximately 6-10
minutes to complete. A copy of the Dell-installed software image is saved on the hard drive
