    How to Use This Manual HOW TO USE THIS MANUAL If you place an outside call using your voice terminal and cannot be heard, cannot hear, or you hear static on the line; hang up and try to place the call again before trying to locate the trouble.

    Basic Trouble Tests BASIC TROUBLE TESTS If your communications system malfunctions, these tests may help you rapidly locate the cause of the trouble. These tests are divided into three main sections: 1. Tests to Determine if the Trouble Is in Your System: This section helps you determine if the trouble is caused by local telephone company equipment or by your communications system.
  • Page 14 Basic Trouble Tests Determine the extent of the problem by placing a series of outside calls. Step 1. These outside calls should be placed from more than one voice terminal. Be sure all of the outside calls are not placed from the same columns of Voice Terminals jacks (jacks 10 though 14 is one column).
