To Remove Roof:
Removethefourscrewsandliftoff.
To Remove Access Cover:
1. Removeroofasdescribedabove.
. Removescrewattopofaccesscover.
3. Pullaccesscoveroutward(away)fromunitwhilepulling
coverupwardandoutofbase.coverwillcomefree.
To Install Access Cover and Roof:
1. Guidebottomofaccesscoverintobase.
. Pushaccesscoveruntilitisflushwithsides.
3. Replacecoverscrew.
4. Replaceroofandscrews.
Operation
Important Owner's Considerations
Engine Oil
Thisengineisshippedfromthefactoryfilledwiththe
recommendedoil.Beforestartingtheengine,checkoillevel
andensurethatengineisservicedasdescribedintheengine
operator'smanual.SeeEngine OilinMaintenance.
NOTICE
Anyattempttocrankorstarttheenginebeforeithasbeen
properlyservicedwiththerecommendedoilwillresultin
equipmentfailure.

information.

Damagetoequipmentresultingfromfailuretofollowthis
instructionwillvoidengineandgeneratorwarranty.
Battery
Theinstallermustsupplyandinstalla350CCA(cold
crankingamps),sealed,valve-regulated,lead-acid
rechargeable1VoltDC,AGMtype,startingbattery.
NOTE:DONOTuseadeep-cycleorautomotivetypebattery.
Withthebatteryinstalled,allwiringtotransferswitchand
homegeneratorcompleted,utilitypowersuppliedtothe
AutomaticTransferSwitch,andthesystemswitchinthe
AUTOposition,thebatteryreceivesatricklechargewhilethe
engineisnotrunning.Thetricklechargecannotbeusedto
rechargeabatterythatiscompletelydischarged.
WARNING
Battery posts, terminals and related accessories contain
lead and lead compounds - chemicals known to the State
of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm.

15 Amp Fuse
Thegenerator's15Ampfusewasremovedatthefactoryto
preventtheunitfromstartingduringshipping.Yourinstaller
willensurethefuseisproperlyinstalleduponcompletionof
theinstallation.
Automatic Operation
Toselectautomaticoperation,dothefollowing:
1. Settheservicedisconnectormaindistributionpanel
circuitbreakerthatsendsutilityvoltagetothetransfer
switchtoON.
. Setthegenerator'smaincircuitbreakertoitsON
position.
3. SetthesystemswitchtoAUTO.
CAUTION
WiththesystemswitchsettoAUTO,theengine
maycrankandstartatanytimewithoutwarning.
Suchautomaticstartingnormallyoccurswhen
utilitysourcevoltagedropsbelowapresetlevel
orduringthenormalexercisecycle.
•
Topreventpossibleinjurythatmaybecausedbysuch
suddenstarts,alwayssetthesystemswitchtoOFF.
•
Removethe15Ampfusebeforeworkingonoraround
thegeneratorortransferswitch.
Checking Automatic Operation
Tocheckthesystemforproperautomaticoperation,proceed
asfollows:
1. TurnOFFtheservicedisconnectormaindistribution
panelcircuitbreakersendingpowertotheautomatic
transferswitch.
Theenginewillcrankandstartwhentheutilityvoltagedrops
outandthesensorhastimedout.Letthesystemgothrough
itsentireautomaticoperationsequence.
. Withthegeneratoroutputsupplyingitsloads,turnON
theservicedisconnectormaindistributionpanelcircuit
breakerthatsuppliesutilitypowertotheAutomatic
TransferSwitch.
3. Theautomatictransferswitchwilltransferloadsbackto
theutilitypowerafter5minuteminimumruntimeand
utilityisrestored.
4. Thegeneratorwillrunforanadditionaloneminutefor
enginecooldown,thenshutdown.
NOTE:Ifutilityisrestoredandgeneratordoesnotshutdown
after10minutes,setsystemswitchtoOFFandcontactyour
installerorlocalservicecenter.
Thiscompletesthetestproceduresforautomaticoperation.
Thehomegeneratorwillnowstartautomaticallywhenutility
powerislostandwillsupplypowertothetransferswitch.
