The Diagnostic Test

This chapter explains how to use the Diagnostic Test program (TESTCE34) to test hardware
module functions. The Diagnostics Program is stored on the Diagnostic Disk. The Diagnos-
tic Test consists of 18 programs grouped into the Service Program Module (DIAGNOSTICS
MENU) and Test Program Module (DIAGNOSTIC TESTS).
The DIAGNOSTICS MENU consists of the following eight functions.
DIAGNOSTIC TEST
HARD DISK FORMAT
HEAD CLEANING
LOG UTILITIES
RUNNING TEST
FDD UTILITIES
SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
SETUP
The DIAGNOSTIC TESTS menu contains the following ten functional tests:
SYSTEM TEST
MEMORY TEST
KEYBOARD TEST
DISPLAY TEST
FLOPPY DISK TEST
PRINTER TEST
ASYNC TEST
HARD DISK TEST
REAL TIMER TEST
PCMCIA TEST
The following equipment is needed to perform some test programs.
T3400/T3400CT Diagnostics Disk (all tests)
Formatted working disk for the floppy disk drive test (all tests)
3.5-inch 2HD/2DD disk for internal 3.5-inch FDD
5.25-inch 2D disk for external 5.25-inch FDD
Cleaning kit to clean floppy disk drive heads (Head Cleaning)
PCMCIA wraparound card for the I/O card (PCMCIA) test
Printer wraparound connector for the printer wraparound (Printer) test
RS-232C wraparound connector for the RS-232C port wraparound (ASYNC) test
The following sections detail function tests of the DIAGNOSTIC TESTS menu. Refer to
sections 3.16 through 3.22 for detailed information on the other Service Program Module
functions.
