ENGINE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL)

6 CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN COMBINA-
TION METER AND IGNITION SWITCH CON-
NECTOR.
Measure voltage between combination meter
connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(i10) No. 8 (+) — Chassis ground (−):
(i12) No. 3 (+) — Chassis ground (−):
7 CHECK LAMP BULB.
Remove engine malfunction indicator lamp
bulb.
Step
Is voltage more than 10 V? Go to step 7.
Is lamp bulb condition OK? Repair combina-

Check the follow-
ing and repair if

NOTE:
¼ Broken down
ignition relay.
¼ Blown out fuse
(No. 5).
¼ If replaced fuse
(No. 5) blows
easily, check the
harness for short
circuit of harness
between fuse (No.
5) and ignition
relay connector.
¼ Open or short
circuit in harness
between fuse (No.
5) and battery ter-
minal
¼ Open circuit in
harness between
fuse (No. 5) and
ignition relay con-
nector
¼ Poor contact in
ignition relay con-
nector
¼ Poor contact in
ignition switch
connector
Replace lamp
bulb.
