6-6 TROUBLESHOOTING

The following chart is designed to help you correct
problems which are not equipment malfunctions.
PROBLEM
. Power does not come on
when [POWER] is
pushed.
the speaker or volume is
too low.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
Power cable is improperly connected.

Power cable is cut.

Fuse is blown.

Polarity of the power connection is

reversed when the DC power source is

The battery for DC operation is discharged,

The squelch is closed.
l
l
Wrong Ndata or PLL reference frequency
l
is set.
The antenna feedline is cut or shorted.
l
Ndata setting is outside the duplexer
l
bandwidth.
[LOCAL INHIBIT] is pushed IN.
l
Wrong subaudible tone decoder frequency
l
is set.
[SQUELCH] is rotated too far CW.
l
Mic connector has a poor contact.
l
Wrong Ndata or PLL reference frequency
l
is set.
l
bandwidth.
The antenna feedline is cut or shorted.
l
ID function is turned OFF.
l
Backup battery is exhausted.
l
Mic connector has a poor contact.
l
CCW: Counterclockwise
If you are unable to locate the cause of the problem or
solve it through use of this chart, contact your nearest
lcom Dealer or Service Center.
SOLUTION
Connect the power cable securely.
l
Check the cable continuity.
l
Check for the cause, then r,eplace the fuse with
l
a spare one.
Reconnect the power cable observing the proper
l
polarity, then replace the DC fuse with a spare
one.
Push [DC RESET] to start the power.
l
Charge the battery.
l
Rotate [VOLUME] CW to obtain a suitable
l
listening level.
Rotate [SQUELCH] CCW to open the squelch.
l
NOTE:
when the squelch is open.
Solder W8.
l
Reset the N-data or PLL reference frequency.
l
Check the feedline and correct any improper
l
conditions.
Reset the N-data.
l
Push [LOCAL INHIBIT] OUT.
l
Reset the subaudible tone decoder frequency.
l
Rotate [SQUELCH] CCW to set the required
l
repeat signal level.
Check the connector pins.
l
Reset the N-data or PLL reference frequency.
l
Reset the N-data.
l
Check the feedline and correct any improper
l
conditions.
Turn ID function switch ON.
l
Replace the backup battery and input the ID call
l
sign.
CAUTION:
Battery replacement should be done by an
authorized lcom Dealer or Service Center.
Check the connector pins.
l
