Administrator's Guide for the V500 System
Symptom
Not enough volume during
a call.
Sound effects such as the
incoming call ring are too
loud or too soft.
You hear the incoming call
ring when you have set
sound effects volume to 0.
Audio sounds raspy in
ISDN calls.
You can hear yourself on
your system's monitor or
external audio system.

Error Indications

Symptom
The System Information
screen shows "waiting" in
the IP Video Number field.

Problem
The people at the far site
are too far from the
microphone.
The volume is set too low
on the system.
The volume is set too low
on the monitor.
The sound effects volume
is not set at desired level.
The internal ringer is
enabled.
ISDN voice algorithm is
incorrect.
The far site microphone is
too close to the system's
audio speaker. (Far-site
systems with separate
microphones only)
The far site audio volume
may be too loud.
Problem
The LAN is not working.
The DHCP server is not
available.
Corrective action
Ask the people at the far site to move closer to the
microphone.
Turn up the volume using the remote control.
Turn up the volume on your monitor.
Adjust the sound effects volume on the Audio
Settings screen. If you do not want to hear sound
effects, set the volume to 0.
On the Audio Settings screen, clear the Enable
Internal Ringer option.
Go to System > Admin > Network > ISDN.
Change the ISDN Voice Algorithm selection (aLaw
or uLaw).
At the far site, make sure the microphone is placed
away from the system's audio speaker.
Turn down the audio volume at the far site.
Corrective action
Check the LAN connection.
Contact your network service provider.
Contact your network service provider to correct the
problem with the server or to assign a static IP
address.
