Problem
No photograph is
taken when the
shutter button is
pressed.
I can't use the
flash to take
pictures.
The flash will not
charge.
The playback
image is too dark
even though I used
the flash.
The playback
image is blurred.
I cannot format the
SmartMedia.
I cannot erase all
the frames.
Nothing happens
when I use the
camera buttons
and switches.
Cause
• The Mode dial has been
moved to another setting.
• The flash is set to
Suppressed Flash mode.
• You pressed the shutter
button while the flash was
charging.
• No compatible
SmartMedia is loaded.
• The camera is set to
Suppressed Flash mode.
• The battery is exhausted.
• The subject is too far
away.
• The lens is dirty.
• The SmartMedia is write-
protected.
• The frame is protected.
• Camera malfunction.

Remedy
• Set the Mode dial to the
correct setting.
• Set the flash to Auto, Red-
Eye Reduction or Forced
Flash mode.
• Wait until charging is
completed before
pressing the shutter
button.
• Load a new SmartMedia,
erase a frame, or remove
the write-protection.
• Set the flash to Auto, Red-
Eye Reduction or Forced
Flash mode.
• Load a new battery.
• Move closer to the
subject.
• Clean the lens.
• Remove the write-
protection.
• Remove the frame
protection.
• Use the [POWER] switch
to switch the camera on
again.
• Remove the battery, then
reinsert it and try again.
