A
A-9 Basics of Imposition
Creep becomes more noticeable as the number of groups in a saddle increases, and its
effect is most noticeable on pages farthest from the center fold of the saddle.
Consequently, a book layout must also specify the number of groups in each saddle
because the number of groups in each saddle affects the amount of creep that needs to
be accounted for.
Creep
DocBuilder Pro compensates for creep automatically when you change any aspect of
the imposed job that is affected by creep.

Gang-Up printing

Layout is essential for defining the elements of complex print jobs such as booklets and
books, but it can also be useful for smaller jobs. Consider, for example, how you might
approach the task of printing business cards. It is slow, wasteful, and expensive to print
a single business card per sheet, when you can repeat the image of the business card
until the entire sheet is filled. This printing technique is known as Gang Up Repeat
because the image is repeated in each page area, or step, on the sheet. After printing,
the sheet is cut apart to produce individual cards.
