Smooth Lines
This option attempts to improve barcode readability by removing stray pixels on the edge of a straight line when
scanning in Black & White. This is useful when scanning at lower resolutions, such as 75-150 dpi, to clean up the
edges of the lines. You can select 1 or 2 pixels to be removed, and you can choose black only, white only, or both
black & white.
If your scanner does not support this feature it will not appear in the interface.
Note: make sure the paper guides on the input tray are adjusted to the width of the document in the scanner. The
guides should be touching the paper to help feed the page in as straight as possible. This function will have no
effect on skewed and diagonal lines.
There must be at least 2 pixels of clear space on both sides of the stray pixel for the scanner to detect it. There will
be very little visual difference between scans with and without this feature enabled. The purpose is for more
consistent results in applications that can detect bar codes, specifically barcodes on Patch Code pages. We
recommend only using this feature in conjunction with barcode detection, which can be enabled by selecting an
option in the Patch code action, Control sheet action, or File separation action lists.
1 and 2 dot black pixel removal pattern
Looks for 1 dot or 2 dots on the outside edge of a straight line and removes it (by changing the pixel to white).
