3. CHANGING SETTINGS
User TVG setting: Effective when "TVG curve" is set for Manual. This allows you to set a
different TVG from those provided.
Noise threshold: Adjusts noise present on long range (deep depth). The larger the figure,
the more noise is erased.
Color resolution: Effective when "Clutter curve" is turned off. You may set display width dB
for colors. Set display width dB for one color.
Line interpolation: Smoothes picture when picture advance speed is 2/1, 4/1 or 8/1.
Echo smoothing: When echoes look "spotty", adjust this setting. The higher the setting the
greater the smoothing.
Ping setting: Chooses source of keying pulse, external (for use only when external echo
sounder is used) or internal.
Bottom search: Turns the bottom detection feature on or off. When turned off, "-.-" appears
as the depth indication in the status window. Turn this feature ON to use auto range or auto
shift.
Deep mode: When the range is 500 m or higher, the deep mode (see the Note on page
1-10) can be automatically turned on. Select Auto here to get automatic activation of the
deep mode. Select Manual to activate the deep mode manually, from the menu bar.
Bottom tracking: The bottom tracking feature sets how to show the bottom echo after the
range is changed or the display is shifted. ON shows the bottom echo as a continuous echo
regardless of whether the range is changed or display is shifted. OFF clearly indicates when
the range is changed or shifted. See the examples below.
Bottom Tracking ON (continuous echo)
Bottom Tracking OFF (echo redrawn at range change)
