Probable cause
Processor not supported by ROM
BIOS.
The system board does not support the
processor.
This BIOS revision does not support
the installed processor.
The previously saved copy of the MBR
is corrupted.
Electronic serial number is corrupted
The chipset has detected more than
one bad bit in a 64-bit quadword of the
memory array.
Parity RAM failure.
Recommended action
6.
Run the Drive Protection System test (if available).
7.
Replace the hard drive.
Upgrade BIOS to proper version.
Replace the processor with a compatible one.
Install the latest BIOS downloaded from
http://www.hp.com.
Run the Computer Setup (F10) Utility and save the
MBR of the current bootable disk.
1.
Run the Computer Setup (F10) Utility.
2.
If the setup utility already has data in the field, or
it will not allow the serial number to be entered,
see http://www.hp.com.
3.
Download and run the sp5572.exe (snzero.exe)
utility.
4.
Run the Computer Setup (F10) Utility again and
try to enter the serial number under
Security>System ID.
5.
Ssave the changes.
Replace the memory module.
Run the Computer Setup (F10) Utility and the
Diagnostic utilities.
