Question
When using the Spectro-
photometer Unit, which of
white or black should be
chosen in the White/Black
Backing Plate?
If I am using the Spectro-
photometer Unit, can I
measure the colors of any
paper?
User's Guide
During normal usage, there is no restriction that you must always use white or you must always use black.
The White/Black Backing Plate complies with the measurement criteria defined in ISO 13655:2009.
When executing color calibration or color check using the Spectrophotometer Unit, we recommend that you
select white.
(See "Color Calibration Using the Spectrophotometer Unit (option).")
(See "Color Checks Using the Spectrophotometer Unit (option).")
If you are using paper that light passes through easily, we recommend that you select white.
If a color is used for one paper type that is different from the color that was used the previous time, it may have
an effect on the color measurement result.
You might not be able to execute color measurement or might not be able to obtain the correct color measurement
results when using the following paper.
Colored paper
Paper where the surface is not even
Paper where the color density is low when printing
