ALTERNATIVEPIPING METHODSTO CONNECT
APPLIANCETO GAS SUPPLY
A TRAINEDSERVICEMAN OR GASAPPLIANCEINSTALLER MUST
MAKETHEGASSUPPLY CONNECTION. L eaktestingofthe appliance
shall be conductedby the installeraccordingto the instructions
given.
Unlessprohibitedby localcodesor ordinances,a newA.G.A. - Certified,
flexible metalapplianceconnectormay be usedto connectthis appliance
to itsgas supply.The connectormusthavean internal diameternot less
than nominal1/2" NPT pipe and be no morethan 5 feet in length.A 1/2"
NPT x 1/2" flare union adapteris requiredat each end of the flexible
connector.If a flexible connectoris usedassure that both the appliance
pressure regulatorand manualshut-off valve are joined solidly to other
permanenthardpiping (eithergassupplyor the appliancemanifold)soas
to be physicallystationary.See illustration b elow:

CAUTION
Do not attempt to attach the flexible connector directly to I
an external pipe thread. Connection requiresflare union
adapters.
IMPORTANT
Apply a non-corrosive leak detectionfluidto all joints and fittings in the
gas connectionbetweenthe supply line shut-offvalve and the range.
Includegasfittingsand jointsin therangeif connections weredisturbed
duringinstallation.Checkfor leaks! Bubblesappearingaroundfittings
andconnections will indicatea leak. If a leakappears, t urnoff supplyline
gasshut-offvalve,tightenconnections,turnon the supplyline gasshut
off valve, and retest for leaks. Never test for gas leaks with an open
flame.
PRESSURETESTING
The appliancemust be isolated from the gas supply piping system by
closingits individualmanualshut-offvalve during anypressuretesting of
the gas supply piping systemat test pressuresequalto or less than 1/2
PSIG (3.5kPa).
This appliance, as well as its individual shut-off valve, must be
disconnectedfrom the gas supply piping system during any pressure
testing of the systemat test pressuresin excessof 1/2 PSIG (3.5kPa).
When checkingappliance regulatorfunction, make certain pressure of
natural gas supply is between6 and 14 inches of water column or, if
convertedfor LP gas, between11and 14 inches.
WARNING
Gas leaks may occur in your system and result in a dangerous
situation.Gasleaksmaynotbe detectedbysmellalone.Gassuppliers
recommendyou purchaseand install an UL approvedgas detector.
Installand usein accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
