CONVERTINGAPPLIANCE FOR USE
WITH LP GAS
WARNING
Propaneconversionisto be performed by a JENN-AIRAUTHORIZED
SERVICER (or other qualified agency) in accordance with the
manufacturer'sinstructionsand all codes and requirementsof the
authorityhavingjurisdiction.Failureto followinstructions couldresultin
seriousinjuryor property damage. T he qualifiedagencyperforming this
workassumesresponsibility for this conversion.
WARNING
Electrical power and gas must be turned off prior to
conversion.
This appliancewas adjustedat the factory for use with naturalgas. To
convertit for use with LP gas (propaneor butane),eachof the following
modificationsmust be performed:
A. Replaceall orifice spuds
Step 1: Removethe gratesand burnerheads.
Step2: Removealuminumventuritube.
Step3: Trim a small pieceof maskingtapeto the size of a dimeand
affixit overthe end of a 5/16" nutdriver.
Step4: Firmlypressthe nutdriveroverthe orificespud (figure7) and
loosen spud by turning counterclockwise. C arefully lift nut
driverout of burnerthroat.Orificespudshouldbe capturedin
the recess.Repeatthis step for each burner.

Step5: Locatethe LPorificespudpackettapedto the undersideofthe
burner box. The spuds havesmall numbersstampedon the
side. This numbercodes the orifice diameterand its correct
burner location.The following illustrationsshow correct LP
orificespud location.

Step 6: With the maskingtape still in place in the recessof the nut
driver, press an LP orifice spud into the recessso that it is
snuglycaptured.
Step 7: Carefullyinstalltheorificespudin theappropriateburner throat
byturningclockwiseto tighten.Tightento a torqueof 15to 20
inch-lbs.
Step 8: Replacecylindricalaluminum venturitubes. Replaceburner
headsand grates.Index eachgrateto its burnerpan.
Step 9: Savethe orificesremovedfrom the appliancefor future use.
B. Invert cap in appliancepressureregulator
(Seefigures9 and 10)
With the applianceinstalled,the applianceregulatorshouldbe located
as shownin figure3 or 4. Identifythe type of applianceregulatoron the
unitand follow the instructionsin the appropriateillustration.
