INSTALLATIONOF APPLIANCE
The installationof thisappliance mustconform withlocalcodesor,inthe
absence of local codes, with the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI
Z223.1-LatestEdition,or, in Canada,CAN!CGA-B149 InstallationCode,
LatestEdition.
This appliance, when installed, must be electrically grounded in
accordancewith local codes or,in the absenceof local codes,with the
NationalElectrical C odeANSI!NFPA No. 70-LatestEdition,or, inCanada,
currentCSAStandardC22.1 CanadianElectrical C ode, Part 1.
In The Commonwealth Of Massachusetts
Thisproduct m ustbe installedby a licensedplumber o r gasfitter whe_
installedwithin theCommonwealthofMassachusetts.
A "F' handle typemanualgasvalvemust be installedin thegassupply
line tothisappliance.
A flexiblegasconnector, whenused,mustnot exceeda lengthof
three(3) feet 136 inches.
All supply piping, except as noted, should use commonNational Pipe
Thread (N.P.T.).For all pipe connections use an approved pipe joint
compoundresistantto the actionof LP gas.
CAUTION:Warrantyisvoid onJenn-Airequipmentinstalledotherthanas
recommended by manufacturer.
This appliance is designed for use with the appliance gas pressure
regulatorsuppliedwith this appliance.It must be installed in the gasway
aheadofthe gasmanifoldentrance.It is presetfor usewith natural g asand
mustbe converted,asdescribed on pages6 & 7, for usewith LPgas. (See
figures8 and 9).
This applianceis designedto operateat a pressureof 5 inchesof water
column on naturalgas or, if convertedfor use with LP gas (propaneor
butane),10incheswatercolumn.Makesurethis applianceis suppliedwith
and adjustedfor the type of gas forwhich it is designed.
Thisappliancewasadjustedatthefactoryforusewith natural g as. If,at any
time, this applianceis to be usedwith a differenttype of gas, all of the
conversionadjustmentsdescribedon pages6 and 7 must be madeby a
qualifiedservicetechnicianbeforeattemptingto operatethe cooktopon
thatgas. Naturalgasshouldbe supplied to theappliancepressure regulator
at a line pressure between6 and 14inchesofwatercolumnor,if converted
for LP gas, between11and 14 inches.
WARNING
If the line pressuresupplying the appliancepressureregulatorexceeds
14" W.C. (anygas), an externalregulatormust be installedin the gas
line aheadofthe applianceregulatorto reducethe pressure to no more
than 14"W.C, Failureto do this can resultin malfunctionanddamage
to the appliance.
Insurethis applianceis adjustedforthe type of gassuppliedto it andthat
the gas supply pressureto the applianceregulatoris within the proper
pressurerange.
Do not removeprotectivecap from pipe stub at manifoldentrance until
readyto join gassupply pipingto appliance.
NOTE:In Canada,gas utilizationcodesprohibituseof streetelbows.Use
standard pipe elbows and make modificationsto these instructionsas
necessary.
CONNECTINGAPPLIANCE TO GAS SUPPLY
A QUALIFIED SERVICEMAN OR GASAPPLIANCE INSTALLER MUST
MAKETHE GASSUPPLY CONNECTION. L eaktestingoftheappliance
shall be conductedby the installer accordingto the instructions
given.
Join the appliancepressureregulatorsuppliedwith this applianceto the
entrancethreadsof the Gas Manifold.The applianceregulatoris marked
with a directional a rrowindicatingcorrectdirectionof gasflow.Ensurethe
applianceregulatoris installedwith the arrow pointingtoward the gas
manifold entrance.Tighten the applianceregulatorto 20 to 30 ft-tbs of
torque.
IMPORTANT
Nevertightento morethan 35 ft-tbsof torque.Alwaysusean approved
pipejoint compoundresistantto the actionof LP gas.
Installthe appliancein its countercutout.
Makethe gas connectionto the inletof the appliancepressureregulator
with 1/2" male pipethreads.
Install a manualshut-off valve in an accessiblelocation in the gas line
aheadof theappliancepressureregulator a nd external t o this appliancefor
the purposeof turningon or shuttingoff gasto the appliance.
Makeadditional p ipeconnections as necessary aheadofthe shut-offvalve
to the gas supplysource.Assureall pipejoint connectionsare gastight.
IMPORTANT
Applya non-corrosive leakdetectionfluidto all joints and fittingsin the
gasconnectionbetweenthe supply line shut-offvalve and the range.
Includegasfittingsandjointsin therangeifconnections weredisturbed
duringinstallation.Checkfor leaks!Bubblesappearingaroundfittings
andconnectionswill indicatea leak. If a leak appears,turn off supply
linegas shut-off v alve,tightenconnections, t urn onthe supplyline gas
shutoffvalve,and retestforleaks.Never test forgasleakswith an open
flame.
