Chapter 1 Introducing the DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem

Front Panel Description

The front panel of your cable modem provides LED status indicators that indicate
how well and at what state your cable modem is operating. See Operation of Front
Panel Indicators (on page 15), for more information on front panel LED status
indicator functions.

POWER—ON, power is applied to the cable modem

DS—ON, the cable modem is receiving data from the cable network

US—ON, the cable modem is sending data to the cable network
4
ONLINE—ON, the cable modem is registered on the network and fully
operational

LINK—ON, the Ethernet connection is operational. BLINKING indicates that
data is being transferred over the Ethernet connection. OFF indicates that the
Ethernet connection is not connected or has been disabled by the user
Note: After the cable modem is successfully registered on the network, the POWER,
DS, US, and ONLINE LEDs illuminate continuously to indicate that the cable
modem is active and fully operational.
