11 WHEELS

11.7 Adjusting Wheelbase Width

Perform this procedure on one side of the wheelchair at a time for ease of adjustment.
The wheelbase width can be increase/decreased by
1.
Remove the rear wheels. Refer to Removing/Installing Rear Wheels on page 66.
2.
Loosen the axle nut and rotate axle busing to increase/decrease the wheelbase width.
3.
Securely tighten axle nut. Torque nut to 30-35 ft.-lbs.
4.
Count the number of threads showing on the axle bushing or
measure the amount of axle bushing showing beyond the axle nut.
WARNING
ALWAYS leave
into camber tube otherwise damage and/or injury
may occur.
The amount of axle bushing showing beyond the
nut should be equal on both sides of the
wheelchair. Otherwise, wheelchair performance
may be affected.
5.
Repeat STEPS 2-4 for the opposite axle bushing.
6.
Install the rear wheels. Refer to Removing/Installing Rear Wheels
on page 66
