The 4-digit alphanumeric Fault System Code (FSC) generated by functional or diagnostic software that may
directly or indirectly be used to indicate the field replaceable unit (FRU) which may be causing the error.
FSC Log
The Fault System Code (FSC) log is a list of library-generated messages, each of which relays a FSC and
the time and date of the occurrence.
The GUI displays the last 20 events recorded for a library or drive. Events recorded are not necessarily
errors.
Each entry includes the FSC, the drive affected, number of occurrences, and the date and time of the last
occurrence.
Gateway
The gateway is a device that connects two computer networks that use different protocols. It translates
between protocols so that computers on the connected networks can exchange data.
Get
A get is when the robotic hand unloads a cartridge from its storage cell.
Get-Put Loop
During the Get-Put loop, the hand loads and unloads a cartridge from a storage cell and places it into
another location. This tests the functionality of the hand assembly.
The maximum number of loops allowed is 20.
ID
The SCSI ID (SCSI address) assigns the devices on the SCSI bus a unique electronic label. This label
allows the client system to give instructions to a specific device.
é
For UNIX workstations:
It is recommended that you use a dedicated SCSI client bus adapter. Valid entries are:
- 0 - 14 for wide SCSI adapters
- 0 - 6 for narrow SCSI adapters
é
For a SPARC:
Available addresses on the embedded system bus are 6, 5, 2, or 0 because the remaining addresses
are reserved for SUN peripherals.
é
For IBM RISC System/6000 machines
Available addresses on the embedded system bus are 6, 5, 3, and 2.
IP Address
The Internet Protocol is a four-byte value that identifies a library and makes it accessible through a network.
