26 Adding TL895 Tape Drives to the Enterprise Backup Solution
Upgrading from the DLT 15 Cartridge Library Model
35/70 to the TL895
Current Enterprise Backup Solution configurations support the DLT 15 Cartridge Library Model
35/70 or the TL895 Tape Library, not both simultaneously. This section assists with the
removal of a DLT 15 Cartridge Library Model 35/70 prior to installing a TL895 Tape Library to
the EBS. It also provides information on compatibility with previous releases of the TL895.
Removing a Compaq DLT 15 Cartridge Library Model 35/70 from
the EBS
1. Turn off power and remove the power cord from the DLT 15 Cartridge Library Model
35/70. Turn off the FCTC power.
2. To remove the DLT 15 Cartridge Library Model 35/70 from the EBS:
If using a new SCSI cable, unplug the SCSI cable from the FCTC.
If reusing the existing SCSI cable, unplug the SCSI cable from the DLT 15 Cartridge
Library Model 35/70.
NOTE: A SCSI cable and differential terminator must be used.
3. Refer to the Quick Setup Guide called Connecting the Compaq StorageWorks TL895 Tape
Library to the Enterprise Backup Solution (Part Number 330558-001) to connect a TL895
Tape Library to the EBS.
4. Reboot the primary server to recognize the new device.
5. Consult backup application documentation to configure the new library to the EBS.
WARNING: Before making any changes, make sure power is off to the DLT 15 Cartridge
Library Model 35/70 and the power cord is removed. Also turn power off to the Fibre
Channel Tape Controller (FCTC).
