Drivin g and operatio n
Always use fine-linked chains tha t add no
more than 15 mm to the tyre tread and the
inboard sides (including chain lock).
Tyre chains may only be used at speeds of
1 )
up to 30 mph (50 km/h)
or up to the tyre
chain manufacturer's rec om mended
max imum speed, w hichever is lower.
When travelling on road s that a re free of
snow, they may only be used for brief
periods since they are sub ject to rapid w ear
on a hard road and may sna p.
Avoid sharp turns, bum ps and holes and
do not lock the wheels when braking, to
avoid damaging the tyre chains.
Retig hten the chains after driv ing for
approx. 0.6 miles (1 km). If, at a ny time,
you hear or suspect that the chains are
contacting the v ehicle, stop and retighten
the c hains.
Always read the instructions supp lied with
the ty re chains.

Tem porary sp are wheel
The temporary spare wheel is designed for
use on your vehicle only.
Do not a ttempt to use the spare ty re on a
different wheel, or use a different ty re on
the spare wheel, as they will not fit.

Ensure the temporary spare wheel is
inflated to the c orrect tyre pressure -
see p age 219.

Warnin g
Disregard of the instructions may lead to
injuries or endanger life. Vehicle
passeng ers must be informed
accordingly.
For reasons of safety and to av oid
dam aging the roof, w e recommend tha t
y ou use the Vaux hall roof ra ck system
app rov ed for y our v ehicle.
Fasten the roof rack to the roof rails
following the instructions that accompany
the sy stem, ensuring that the roof load is
evenly distributed over the side or c ross
rails. Loads must not be placed on the roof
surfac e.
To prevent d amage or loss, check
freq uently that roof loa ds are sec urely
fastened .
Driving with a roof load affects the
vehicle's centre of g ra vity; drive carefully in
crosswinds and d o not d riv e a t hig h
speeds.
