106 Climate c ontrol

Air recirculation mode

During 'normal' operation, the hea ting,
ventilation and a ir cond itioning system
uses outside air. To prevent fumes or
unpleasant odours from entering the
vehic le when in stationary traffic and when
rapid heating or cooling of the passenger
compartment is required, press button 4;
control indica tor in the button illuminates
and air is recircula ted.
Air recircula tion mode should only be used
for b rief periods, d ue to gradual
deterioration in air quality and an increase
in humidity , causing windows to mist up.
Driv ing with air recirculation mode on for
extended periods may cause vehicle
oc cup ants to feel drowsy.
Press button 4 a g ain to turn air
recirculation mode off; control indicator in
the button ex tinguishes and outside air is
drawn into the vehicle.

Air conditioning system

As a supplem ent to the heating and
ventila tion system , the a ir cond itioning
system cools and dehumidifies (dries)
inflowing a ir and removes dust a nd p ollen,
to provide ma ximum comfort under any
weather conditions.
If c ooling or dehum idific ation is not
required, switc h off cooling in order to sav e
fuel.
