Troubleshooting
Before calling a service technician, please check the following table for a possible cause of the symptom and
some solutions.
Symptom
TV will not turn on
Solution
• Make sure the power coM is plugged in, the** press POWER.
• The remote control batteries *nay be dead. Replace the batteries.
• If you have recently replaced the lamp unit, make sure the lamp unit
and lamp unit door are installed properl>
• The lamp unit *nay need to be replaced. (See "LED indications" on
page 60.)
No picture or too dark • The lamp unit *nay need to be replaced.
No picture, no sound • Check the antenna/cable connections.
No sound, picture OK • The sound *nay be muted. Press VOLUME.
• The station may have broadcast difficulties. Try another chmmel.
• Check that the SPEAKERS fimction in AUDIO menu is set properl>
Poor picture, sound OK • Check the antenna connections.
• The station *nay have broadcast difficulties. Try another channel.
• Adjust the PICTURE menu.
Poor reception of broadcast channels • The station *nay have broadcast difl:iculties. Try another channel.
• Check the antenna connections.
• If you are using a VCR, make sure the TV/VCR button is set
correctly.
Cannot receive above channel 13 • Make sure the TV/CABLE switch is set to the *node that
corresponds with the signal source _pe (cable company or outside
antenna).
Black box appears on the screen • The closed caption feature *nay be set to one of the Text *nodes (T 1,
T2, T3, or T4). Turn closed captioning OFE
Unable to select a certain channel • The channel *nay be locked out with the CH LOCK feature, or
erased with the ADD/ERASE feature.
Multiple images • The station may have broadcast difficulties. Try another channel.
• Antenna reception *nay be poor. Use a highly directional outdoor
antenna.
Poor color or no color • The station *nay have broadcast difficulties. Try another channel.
• Adjust the TINT and/or COLOR in the PICTURE menu.
• The lamp unit *nay need to be replaced.
No stereo or SAP sound from a • Make sure the MTS feature is set properl>
known MTS broadcast
The screen lights dimly and the fan • The Quick Restart feature *nay be it* ON *node. Set to OFF you do

The remote control does not operate • Check whether the appropriate device *node is selected.
• Remove all obstructions between the remote control and the remote
