Using an Existing
NEIWA 14-50R Receptacle
Plug the range power cord into a properly grounded
wall receptacle. Skip to Step 6 if the range power cord
matches the wall receptacle.
NOTE:Your range is shipped with a/#-prong plug to be used
in a NEMA!4-50R receptacle.Shouldyou choose to change
your plug, useonly a 3-wire power cord, 3-wire conduit or
/#-wireconduit. Follow the appropriate instructions below, in
Step 5, for your application.
EffectiveJanuary 1, 1996,the National ElectricalCoderequires
that new construction(not existing)utilize a 4-conductor
connectionto an electricrange.
A range cord rated at 40 amps with 125/250 minimum
volt range is required. A 50-amp range cord is not
recommended but if used, it should be marked for use with
nominal 13A"diameter connection openings. Cure should
be taken to center the cable and strain relief within the
knockout hole to keep the edge from damaging the cable.
NOTE:A/#-conductor cord is to be used when the appliance
is installed in a mobile home or when local codes do not
permit grounding through the neutraL

Remove the wire cover (on the back of the range)
by removing two (2) screws using a 1/4" nut driver.
Do not discard these screws.

NOTE:Thereplacement power cord must be a
3-conductor or a/#-conductor UL-listedrange cord or
conduit. Cords may be provided with ring terminals on wire
and a strain reliefdevice.

Follow the 3-wire power cord (option 5A),

Remove the 3 lower power cord terminal screws from
the terminal block and the ground screw and plate.
Place the terminal screws and ground screw in safe
location for later use.
