II LongTime-Exposures (M ModeOnly)
Select the following
shutter speeds for long time-
exposures of moving lights, the stars, night
scenery, or fireworks.

• Bulb(o_.,,_,_-,).Theshutter
remains open while
the shutter-release
button
is held down.
To
35 s exposure
at aperture
f/25
prevent blur, use a tripod or an optional
MC-DC2 remote cord (_ 281).
Time(- -): Requires an optional
ML-L3 remote control (_ 281 ). Start the exposure
by pressing the ML-L3 shutter-release
button.
The shutter remains open for thirty
minutes or until the button
is pressed a second time.
Ready the camera.
Mount the camera on a tripod or place iton a stable, level surface. To avoid loss
of power during the exposure, use a fully charged EN-EL15 battery or an
optional
EH-Sa AC adapter and EP-SB power connector.
Note that noise
(randomly-spaced
bright pixels or fog) may occur in long exposures; before
shooting,
choose On for Long exp. NR in the shooting
menu (_ 205).

Rotate the mode dial to M.
Modedial

Choose
a shutter
speed.
While the exposure meters are on, rotate the
main command
dial to choose a shutter
speed of',__ ,_,_-,.'

For a shutter speed of
"time" (- -), select remote mode (_ 80) after
choosing the shutter speed.
