5. Ropeguide Setupas followsin Step5:
a. Holdthe bladecontrol againsttheupper handle.
b. Slowlypull starterrope out of engine.
c. Slip starterrope intothe rope guide.Tightenrope
guidewing nut.
6. Installrear wheelsasfollowsin Step6 (wheelsmaybe
alreadyinstalledat factory,if sodisregardStep6):
a. Placerear of the mowerdeck on raisedblocks.
b. Removelock nutfrom pivot armassembly(on
selectmodels,these maybe includedseparately
in a plasticbag).
c. Slide wheel,with hollowside in, ontopivot arm
and securewith lock nut.
d. Assemblethe other sidein thesame manner.
7. Eachwheelhasa heightadjustmentleverto change
the cuttingheightof the mower.
a. Depressheightadjustmentlevertowardswheel.
b. Slide leverto desiredpositionfor a changein
cuttingheight.See Step7.
c. Releaselevertowardsdeck.
8. If yourmoweris equippedwith an optionalmulching
baffle,installit on the rightside of the deck.Follow
the sequenceindicatedhere.
a. Lift up and hold the side-discharge chute deflector
and insert bottomlip of the mulchingbaffle inside
the chuteopeningSee Step8.
b. Snap hooksd the mulchingbaffle overthe hinge
pin of the chute deflector.Thehooks mustsnap
into placeon the hingepin, lockingthe mulching
baffle firmlyonto mower.Releasechutedeflector.

WHEEL INSTALL

On select models,the
front wheels may also
need to be installed.
Installthese in the
same manner as the
rear wheels.
CUTTINGHEIGHT
Step 7
All wheels must be
placed in the same
relativeposition. For
rough or uneven lawns,
movethe height adjust-
ment lever to a higher
position.This will stop
scalping of grass.
MULCHING BAFFLE
(if so equipped)

For proper assembly
install bottom I p inside
chute opening before
placing hooks over the
hinge pin.
IMPORTANT
This unit is shipped
without gasoline or
oil in the engine. Fill
up gasoline and oil
as instructed in the
accompanying engine
manua BEFORE
operating your mower.
