Attach the piece of leather which is to be embro
idered onto cut-away stabilizer with a fabric glue
pen or textile adhesive. You can also use Filmoplast
adhesive backing (see page 72).
Take care to ensure that the leather is stuck down
flat. On very thick and very stiff fabrics we recom
mend pressing the sew slow key (3) before starting
to sew and, where possible, to enlarge the embro
idery motif to avoid needle breakage and extra
perforation holes being made in the leather.
If the leather is too thick to be inserted into the
hoop/frame, only fit the fleece into the embroidery
hoop and lay the extra leather over the embroidery
unit so that it does not hinder the feed of the hoop
control when embroidering.
Tip:
From time to time the sewing foot and needle
fastening screws should be tightened since when
working with thick materials, the sewing foot and
the needle can more easily become loose.
