Neverattempt to makeany adjustmentswhile the engine isrunning,except
where specifiedin the operator's manual.
Leveling the Deck
NOTE: Check thetractor's t irepressure before p erforming anydeck leveling
adjustments. Refer toTires i n theService section o fthismanual formore
information r egarding tirepressure.
FrontToRear
Thefront ofthe cuttingdeckissupported byastabilizerbarthatcanbeadjusted to
levelthe deckfromfront to rear. T hefront of thedeckshouldbebetween1A-inch
and_8-inchlowerthanthe rearof the deck.Adjustif necessary a sfollows:
1.
With thetractorparkedona firm, levelsurface, p lace the leverforlifting the
platformonthe second to the top notch(second highestposition)androtate
the bladeasclose aspossible to the discharge c hannel t hat isparalleltothe
tractor.
2.
Measure the distance from the front ofthe bladetip to the groundandthe
rearofthe bladetip to the ground.Thefirst measurement takenshould
bebetweenlg,,and3/8"less thanthe second measurement. Determine
the approximate distance necessary f or properadjustment a ndproceed, if
necessary, to the next step.

Locate the flangelocknut on the front sideofthe stabilizerbracket. S ee
Figure 16.
Tighten the flangelocknut to raisethe front of the deck;
Loosen the flangelocknut to lowerthe front of the deck.

Ifthe cuttingdeckappears to be mowingunevenly, asideto sideadjustmentcanbe
performed. A djustif necessary a sfollows:
1.
With the tractorparkedonafirm, levelsurface, p lacethe decklift leverin
the second from the top notch(second highestposition)androtateboth
bladessothat theyareperpendicular with the tractor.
2.
Measure the distance fromthe outsideof the left bladetip to the ground
andthedistance from the outside of the right bladetip to the ground.Both
measurements takenshouldbeequal.Ifthey'renot,proceed to the next
step.
3.
Loosen, but doNOT remove, t he hexcapscrewonthe left deckhanger
bracket. S eeFigure 17.
4.
Balance t he deckbyusinga wrench to turn the adjustment g ear(found
immediately behindthe hexcapscrew just loosened) c lockwise/up or
counterclockwise/down. The deckisproperlybalanced when bothbladetip
measurements takenearlierareequal.
5.
Retighten the hexcapscrew on the left deckhangerbracket w henproper
adjustmentisachieved.

Parking BrakeAdjustment
Neverattempt to adjust the brakeswhile the engine isrunning. Always
disengagePTO (bladeengage)lever,moveshift leverintoneutral position,
stop engine and removekeyto preventunintended starting.
Ifthe tractordoesnot cometo acompletestopwhenthe brakepedaliscompletely
depressed, or if the tractor'srearwheelscanroll with the parkingbrakeapplied,
the brakeis inneedof adjustment. C ontact t he nearest S ears Service Center t o have
yourbrakes properly adjusted.
