OPERATION
ALL ABOUT THE COOKING PROBE
Useyourcookingprobeto accuratelyjudgethe endpointwhen
cookingmeatand poultrythat is tender,juicy,full of flavorand
'done'to yourown preference.Meat that is cookedfor too long
can be dry andtough; the probewill turn the ovenoff whenthe
internal t emperatureof the foodreachesa pointthat has been
pre-setby you. Theprobecanbe usedon TrueAero, AeroBake,
Roast, A eroBroitandBake

Using The Cooking Probe
Selectthe ovenmodeandtemperature and preheattheovenif appropriate.
Roastdoesnot requirepreheating.AeroBroitneedsonlya short preheat.
Insertas muchof the metalcookingprobeas possible horizontally intothe thickestpartof the fully defrostedmeat. The
thickerthe meat,the longerit will take to cook,so it is importantthat the probeis measuring the temperatureof the meat
at it's thickestpoint. Make surethe probedoesnottouch bone,fat or gristle,as this will giveyoua falsereading.
Placethe meat on the broilingsystem.
When the ovenhaspreheated(if required) to the set temperatureplacethe broilingsystemin the ovenand insertthe plugend
of the cookingprobeinto the probesocket,usingan ovenmitt if the ovenis hot. Theprobesocketis on the left handside
of the oven,halfwaydownbetweenshelfpositions3 and 5. Makesurethe probeis pushedinto the socket,thenclosethe
ovendoon
Selectthe upperor lowercavityfor doubleovenmodelsusingthe ovencavityselectorbutton.
PressPROBE on the controlpanel. Thepre-settemperatureof 150°F / 65°Cand'Probe' w ill light up in the display.If youwant
to selecta differentinternal f oodtemperature from the presettemperature, r otate the SETTING SELECTOR
while 'Probe' i s
flashing. ForCooking Probe and Roasting Guidelines, seepage31.
The display will show the actualinternal t emperature.Tolookat the set internal t emperaturepressPROBE. T he
ovenwill beepandautomatically turnoff whenthe set internal t emperaturehasbeenreached.Thetemperature and oven
modedisplayswill remainon and the ovenlight will go out.
Return the ovento manualmodeby pressing the PUSH TOCLEAR button. Turnthe ovenmodeandtemperaturedialsOFF.
To cancelthe probesettingbeforethe set temperature hasbeenreachedpressPROBE t hen PUSH TOCLEAR.
Thecookingprobecanbe usedwith AutomaticCooking functions. Theprobemustbe plugged into the probesocketin the
sideof the ovencavity beforeyoucan set it but this can be donebeforeor after AutomaticCooking is set and bothof
these canbe donewhenthe ovenis on. If the probereaches the set temperaturebeforethe StopTimeis reachedthe
probewill turn the ovenoff.
The internaltemperatureof the meat will continueto riseby 5-15°F(2-8°C)after you haveremovedit from the oven so
allow for this in yourcalculations.This is particularlyimportantif you want a rareor mediumrare roast. The higherthe
oventemperatureused,the greaterthe risewill be. Forsuggestedtimesand temperatures,see the chart on page31.
It is a good ideato let all roast meatsstand for 10 - 15 minutesbeforecarving- the juiceswill be less likelyto run when
you carve.
Important points to note:

Useonlythe cookingprobethat was suppliedwith yourAeraTech oven.
Hold the cookingprobeat the 'handles' w heninsertingand removingit from food and the cookingprobesocket.
If the cookingprobeis hot, handleit with an ovenmitt, do not usetongsas this maydamagethe cookingprobe.
Remember to removethe cookingprobefrom the ovenbeforeyoustart a cleancycle.
Do not storethe probein the oven.
Only usethe probewith foods that are fully defrosted.
