Hard Water Situations
If youlive in a hardwater situation,we recommend the installationof a household water

calciumdepositson dishesand in the DishDrawer ® .
Certainbrandsof dishwasherdetergentcontainvaryingquantitiesof phosphates, w hich help
softenwater. We suggestyouusea detergentwith high phosphate contentto improvethe
wash.Thedetergentcompartments needto be completelyFULL and rinseagentis usedwith
its settingfixed at 5.
We recommend the useof a dishwashercleaner/descaler wheneveryou noticea build up of
calciumdepositsin yourBishOrawer®.
After youhaveusedthedishwasher c leaner/descaler youmustrun anotherwashprogramwith
detergent t o preventdamageto the OishBrawer®.
Soft Water Situations
If youlive in an areaof naturallysoftwater or yourhousehold water is softened, avoidusingtoo much detergent i n your
DishDrawer®. An excessamountof detergentis veryaggressive on glassware and may causeirreversible etching.
Etching is a chemical d eterioration that occurson the surfaceof glassware when it is subjected to high temperatures, too much
detergentand/orsoft water situations.Etching is causedbya combination of veryhot water, which causesthe detergentto become
veryaggressive, b ut because the water is soft, thereare no water hardness mineral i onsfor the detergentto bindto, so it extracts
mineralionsdirectlyfrom the glass.
Etching lookslikerainbowcoloredfilm, as the glassis subjectedto furtherwashingthe surfacewill eventually appearopaque. This
type of etchingis irreversible.
Toprevent f urther etchingfrom occurringon glasswareuselessdetergent(followthe recommended detergentquantitiesin the User
Guide for softwater situations), a nd ensurethe dishwasheris not overloaded, so water canreachall the dishesduringthe wash.
