This option determines
how the focus point for autofocus is
selected (_ 56).
If On is selected and lighting
is poor, the built-in AF-assist
illuminator
(_ 55) will light to assist the focus operation
in
single-servo
AF (A[-Sselected for focus mode, or single-servo
AF
selected in AF-Afocus mode) when Auto-area
is selected for AF-
area mode or when Single point, Dynamic area, or 3D-
tracking
(11 points) is selected and the center focus point is
used. if Off is selected, the AF-assist illuminator will not light to
assist the focus operation. The camera may not be able to focus
using autofocus
when lighting is poor.
