  • Page 10 White balance ensures that colors are unaffected by the color of the light source. Auto white balance is recommended for most light sources; in P,S,A, and M modes, other values can be selected if necessary according to the type of source: Place the cursor in the information display.
  • Page 11 The Shooting Menu White balance can be selected using the White balance option the shooting menu (_ 148), which also can be used to fine-tune white balance (_ 98) or measure a value for preset white balance (_ 99). The _ Fluorescent option in the White balance menu can be used to select the light source from the bulb types shown at right.
  • Page 12 Fine-Tuning White Balance White balance can be "fine tuned" to compensate for variations in the color of the light source or to introduce a deliberate color cast into an image. White balance is fine tuned using the White balance option in the shooting menu.
  • Page 13 Preset Manual Preset manual is used to record and recall custom white balance settings for shooting under mixed lighting or to compensate for light sources with a strong color cast.   • Page 39 In full-frame, zoom, thumbnail, and calendar playback, the o-n button can be used to protect photographs from accidental deletion. Protected files can not be deleted using the _ button or the Delete option in the playback menu. Note that protected images will be deleted when the memory card is formatted (_ 23).

To delete multiple selected photographs, all photographs taken on a selected date, or all photographs in the current playback folder, use the Delete option in the playback menu.
