Tape Speeds
Beforerecording, select the tape speedfrom : SPmode (standardplay) or
SIP mode (superlong play).Youcan alsoplay backa cassettetape recorded
in [P mode (Long Play).

Playback
Insert a pre-recorded
tape so that

tab has been
removed,
the unit will change the

. Even in the DVD mode, you can start the cassette tape
playback
if you press [PLAY I1_] on the unit of the TW
VCR side.

To start playback,
press [PLAY I1_].

To stop the playback,
press [STOPm].

To rewind the tape, press [REV _11]. To forward the tape,
press or [FWD !1_]. To stop winding, press [STOP m].

To eject the cassette tape from the cassette compart-
ment, press [STOP/E.JECT mini
on the unit.

tal erasing of recording.

Adjustment
Trackingadjustment will besetautomatically whenyou start playback(digi-
tal trackingfunction).
• If noise lines (black and white
streaks) appear on the
playback
picture, use [CH. A / _] until the streaks dis-
appear (manual tracking
adjustment).
This is available
in pause/still/slow
mode, too.
• To release manual tracking
mode, stop the playback
once and start playback
again.
[] Switching
Audio
Mode
Youcan setthe unit to play backthe cassettetape in either high fidelity
(Hi-Fi)or monaural (MONO or single-channel)sound.
When recordinga TV program,unit recordsMTS broadcastsin Hi-Fistereo
sound automatically unlessyou select SAPmoderecording beforehand.

During
playback
of a cassette tape, press [TV/VCR

Note:
, Non-Hi-Fi tapes will play in monaural automatically.
, When playing a non-Hi-Fi tape, pressing [TWVCR Audie
will only affect the display shown on the TVscreen but it doe
not affect the actual sound mode.
[] Still Picture
& Slow Motion
. During
playback,
press [PAUSE | II] to freeze the pic-
ture. You can advance
the picture frame by frame by
pressing
[PAUSE | i] repeatedly.
. During
the still mode, press [FWDI_I_]
to forward
slow motion
playback.
. To release the still or slow mode, press [PLAY II_].

. if the unit keeps the slow mode or still mode for more than 5
minutes, it will automatically enter the stop mode.
[] Auto Rewind=eject
When the end of a tape is reached during recording, playback,or fast for-
ward, the tape will automatically rewind to the beginning. After rewinding
finishes, the unit will eject the tape andturn itself off.
. This function
is operative when repeat playback is set to
"OFF':
• The tape will not auto-rewind
during
timer
recording
or one-touch
timer
recording
(OTR).
[] Picture
Search
Thisfunction isusefulin finding or skipping overa particular sceneon a
tape. In this mode,the sound will be muted.
During
playback,
press [REV _t_1] or [FWD I_1_] to view
at a high speed (in reverse/forward).
Press [REV _
/ I_11] or [FWD I_1_ / I1_1] again to view
at super high speed (in LP/SLP modes only).

Press [PLAY I_] to return to normal playback.
Note:
• Tapesrecorded in the SPor LPmode will normally display
a noise bar on the TVscreen and the picture may revert to
black and white.
