[] About Cassette Tape
This unit will operatewith any cassettetape that hasthe [_.
Forbest results, w e recommend t he use of high-quality tapes.
Donot use poor quality or damagedtapes.
[] Selecting Tape Speeds
Beforerecording, select the tape speedfrom : SPmode (standardplay) or
SIP mode (superlong play).Youcan alsoplay backa cassettetape recorded
in [P mode (Long Play).

Basic Playback
Insert a pre-recorded tape so that [ ___ l
the unit turns on automatically (auto
power on).
. If the erase-prevention tab has been
removed, the unit will change the _"_"-__
VCR mode and starts playback automatically.
. Even in the DVD mode, you can start the cassette tape
playback if you press [PLAY I1_] on the unit of the TW
VCR side.
2 To start playback, press [PLAY I1_].
i_ To stop the playback, press [STOPm].
_ To rewind the tape, press [REV _11]. To forward the tape,
press or [FWD !1_]. To stop winding, press [STOP m].
5 To eject the cassette tape from the cassette compart-
ment, press [STOP/E.JECT mini on the unit.

Break off the prevention tab on the back _'\
edge of the cassette to prevent acciden-
tal erasing of recording. _, ........
Cover the hole with adhesive tape to record _,
on the cassette tape again. L_

°In the TV/VCR mode, If the cassette tape without tab is
inserted, playback will start automatically.
. If you press[REC/OTR @] or [REC]when a cassettetape without
prevention tab is inserted,the unit wi ejectit automatica ly.
[] Tracking Adjustment
Trackingadjustment will besetautomatically whenyou start playback(digi-
tal trackingfunction).
• If noise lines (black and white streaks) appear on the
playback picture, use [CH. A / _] until the streaks dis-
appear (manual tracking adjustment).
This is available in pause/still/slow mode, too.
• To release manual tracking mode, stop the playback
once and start playback again.
[] Switching Audio Mode
Youcan setthe unit to play backthe cassettetape in either high fidelity
(Hi-Fi)or monaural (MONO or single-channel)sound.
When recordinga TV program,unit recordsMTS broadcastsin Hi-Fistereo
sound automatically unlessyou select SAPmoderecording beforehand.

During playback of a cassette tape, press [TV/VCR
Audio] to switch "HIFI" or "MONa':

. This setting is saved until the cassette tape _sejected.
• The current mode will automatically disappear in 5
seconds.
Note:
, Non-Hi-Fi tapes will play in monaural automatically.
, When playing a non-Hi-Fi tape, pressing [TWVCR Audie
will only affect the display shown on the TVscreen but it doe
not affect the actual sound mode.
[] Still Picture & Slow Motion
. During playback, press [PAUSE | II] to freeze the pic-
ture. You can advance the picture frame by frame by
pressing [PAUSE | i] repeatedly.
. During the still mode, press [FWDI_I_] to forward
slow motion playback.
. To release the still or slow mode, press [PLAY II_].
No te:
. if the unit keeps the slow mode or still mode for more than 5
minutes, it will automatically enter the stop mode.
[] Auto Rewind=eject
When the end of a tape is reached during recording, playback,or fast for-
ward, the tape will automatically rewind to the beginning. After rewinding
finishes, the unit will eject the tape andturn itself off.
. This function is operative when repeat playback is set to
"OFF':
• The tape will not auto-rewind during timer recording
or one-touch timer recording (OTR).
[] Picture Search
Thisfunction isusefulin finding or skipping overa particular sceneon a
tape. In this mode,the sound will be muted.
During playback, press [REV _t_1] or [FWD I_1_] to view
at a high speed (in reverse/forward).
Press [REV _ / I_11] or [FWD I_1_ / I1_1] again to view
at super high speed (in LP/SLP modes only).
3 Press [PLAY I_] to return to normal playback.
Note:
• Tapesrecorded in the SPor LPmode will normally display
a noise bar on the TVscreen and the picture may revert to
black and white.
