Thisfunctionallowsyouto indexthe starting point to makeit easyto reach
the point in eitherfast forward or rewind mode.
• Every time you start recording, an index is marked
automatically. The index mark also works as the start-
ing point of timer recording.
• The index mark will not be recorded if [PAUSE IIII] is
used during recording.
. The time gap between making the index marks on
the tape should be greater than 1 minute for SP
recording, 2 minutes for LP recording and 3 minutes
for SLP recording.
. In some cases, the index mark at the beginning of
cassette tape cannot be detected.
Example: You are watching program number 4 and want
to fast forward to program number 7. Skip three programs.

One-touchtimer recording (OTR) e nablesyou to start recordingfor specified
length simply bypressing[REC/OTR 0] on the unit.
Before youbegin:
Insert a cassettetape with its erase-preventi0ntab in place.
Makesurethe cassettehasenoughremaining tape for the recording.
Use [CH. A/V] or [the Number buttons] to select the
channel to be recorded.

2 Press [SPEED] to select the desired tape speed (SP/SLP).
(Refer to "Selecting Tape Speeds" on page 24.)

_i_ Use [Cursor A / V] to until the number of programs
that you want to skip appears.
_ Press [RECIOTR @] on the unit repeatedly until your
desired length appears on the TV screen. The recording
time will increase by 30 minutes up to 8 hours. Recording
starts immediately when you press [REC/OTR O].

ward to the beginning of desired program.

Note:
• If the recording is paused for more than 5minutes, the unit wifl
restart the recording to prevent cassettetope from damage.
. This unit cannot record the contents from the built-in DVD.
• Youcan only watch thesome TVprogram thatis being recorded.
• Even ifyoupress[POWERO]dufing OTR,the unitcondnues
recording.
. Youcannot start OTRwith the remote control.
• In the SLPmode, maximum recording time, assuming the
cassette tope starts at the beginning, is 8 hours using 7-- 160
(or 6 hours using 7-- 120).
. If the cassette tape runs out before the end time, the unit will
switch to the stop mode immediately, eject the cassettetape
and turn itself off.
. To show the remaining time of OTR,press[DISPLAY] on
the remote control to display _OTR"on the TVscreen. (It will
show up momentarily then disappear.)

When the search is completed, the unit will start play-
back automatically.
No te:
. The numbers of index search can be set up to 20.
. This function is not available during recording.
. To cancel index search in progress, press [STOP/EJECTm __]
on the unit or [STOP m] on the remote control.
