7. Remove
the belt f rom around the auger pulley, and slip the belt
between thesupport bracket and the auger pulley. See Figure 26.
8. Reassemble
auger belt b yfollowing instructions
inreverse order.
9. Perform t he Auger Control test o utlined inthe Assembly
section
ofthis manual.
NOTE: DoNOT f orget toreinstall the shoulder screw and reconnect
the spring tothe frame a fter i nstalling
areplacement
auger belt.
Drive Belt
Toremoveand replaceyoursnow thrower'sdrivebelt, proceedas
follows:
1.
Topreventspillage,removeall fuel fromtank by runningengine
untilit stops.
2.
Removetheplasticbelt coveron the front of the engineby remov-
ing the two self-tappingscrews.See Figure22 on previouspage.
3.
Removethebelt as follows.Referto Figure27.
a.
Rollthe auger beltoff theengine pulley.
b.
Use a wrenchto pivotthe idlerpulleytowardthe right.
c.
Lift the drivebelt off enginepulley.
4.
Carefullypivotthe snowthrowerup and forwardsothat itrestson
the augerhousing.
5.
Removetheframe coverfrom the undersideof the snowthrower
by removingfour self-tappingscrewswhich secureit. Referto
Figure24.
6.
Back outthe stop bolt to increasethe clearancebetweenthe
frictionwheeldisc and frictionwheel.See Figure28.
7.
Slip the drivebelt off the pulleyand betweenfrictionwheeland
frictionwheeldisc.See Figure28.
8.
Removeand replacebelt in the reverseorder.
NOTE:Engagingthe drivecontrolwill easereassembly of the belt.
FRICTION
WHEEL
REMOVAL
If the snowthrowerfails to drivewith thedrivecontrolengaged,and
performingthe DriveControlCableAdjustment f ails to correctthe
problem,the frictionwheelmay needto be replaced.Examine the
frictionwheelfor signsof wearor crackingand replaceif necessary.
NOTE:Severalcomponents mustbe removedand specialtools are
requiredin order to replacethis snowthrower'sfrictionwheelrubber.
If yourfrictionwheel rubberneedsto be replaced,contact the nearest
SearsParts& RepairCenter.
