For physical reasons, the engine
temperature gauge show s the coolant
temperature only if the coolant level is
adeq uate.
During operation the system is pressurised.
The temp erature ma y therefore rise briefly
to ov er 100 °C.

Diesel engines: If the tank is allowed to run
dry , bleed the fuel system as described on

Because of the fuel remaining in the tank,

cap acity.
