To remove or install a diskette or CD-ROM drive, you must remove the front bezel and
open the two panel doors on top of the computer according to the instructions in
"Accessing the Interior of Your System" and "Removing the Front Bezel" in Chapter 7 .
This section describes the interface connectors and power input connectors on the
backs of most drives.
NOTE: If you should ever disconnect any or all of the interface cables from the system
board, be sure to note the order in which you remove them so that you can reinstall
them in the correct order. Refer to "Routing the Interface Cables Inside the Chassis"
in Chapter 8 for more information about installing the interface cables.
A ribbon cable functions as the interface cable for most types of drives. The connec-
tor on the cable may be a header connector (see Figure 9-2) or a latching connector
(Figure 9-3).
