In Edit view, on the Timeline, move the mouse over an object until the hand appears and drag the object up or
down to change its position in the stacking order. Moving an object higher in the stacking order moves it to the
front of the stage, while moving an object lower moves it to the back of the stage.
Tip:You can adjust the zoom level of the Timeline easily. Click in the Timeline ruler and spin the mouse wheel on your
mouse to increase or decrease the zoom level. Alternatively, use keystrokes to change the zoom level. Click on the ruler
and then press Ctrl+[ to decrease zoom level, Ctrl+] to increase zoom level, or Ctrl+W to set the zoom level so all
objects will fit within the current Timeline width.

Hiding and locking object layers

The Timeline lets you lock or hide individual object layers on a slide. When there are several objects on a slide,
you would hide an object layer to ease slide editing.
To hide or show an object layer:
1
Open an Adobe Captivate project.
2
Double-click a slide.
If it is not open already, display the Timeline by clicking the splitter bar. To expand the Timeline, click the
3
display arrow.
To the left of the bar that represents the object layer you would like to hide or show, click the column under-
4
neath the eye symbol.
If the object was showing, the object disappears from the slide and an X appears in the column. If the object was
hidden, the object appears on the slide and the X disappears from the column.
When you hide an object layer, it is hidden only on the stage. You can still view the layer when it is previewed
5
or published.
To lock or unlock an object layer:
Open an Adobe Captivate project.
