v The Windows systems must have Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX
AIX Fast Connect is server software that allows AIX servers and workstations to
share files and printers with personal computer clients running Windows operating
systems. Because AIX Fast Connect uses industry-standard Microsoft networking
protocols, PC clients can access AIX files using Microsoft networking client
software. PC users can use remote AIX file systems directly from their machines
like local file systems. The namespace will appear on the network just like any
other Windows shared folder. AIX Fast Connect provides these services by
implementing the SMB networking protocol to run on NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
Microsoft PCNFS (Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX) allows a Windows
system to mount the exported AIX Network File System (NFS) that InfoPrint uses
to share the namespace.
By doing this set of procedures on both an InfoPrint AIX server and an InfoPrint
Windows workstation, you can configure InfoPrint Manager to support
interoperability between InfoPrint AIX servers and InfoPrint Windows servers.
When configuring InfoPrint Manager for AIX and Windows servers to support
interoperability, make sure that these rules are followed:
1. Each InfoPrint Manager server must be accessible by all other InfoPrint
2.
3. All printer objects (whether logical destination, actual destination, or queue)
4. InfoPrint Manager Notifications should only run on the primary server and
LPD service for AIX can be used however, by submitting jobs with the lpr
command to actual destinations on the AIX server. The lpr command can also still
be used as before with Windows printer destinations (just not InfoPrint Manager
printers).

Setting up the InfoPrint AIX server for interoperability

Perform these procedures on your InfoPrint AIX server to prepare for
interoperability with an InfoPrint Windows server. These procedures presume that
you have installed InfoPrint Manager for AIX on your AIX server and have logged
onto the server as root.
Starting NFS and connecting the secondary server
1. Open a dtterm window and type: /etc/rc.nfs to either start the NFS daemon
2. Open a dtterm window, type smit. This screen displays.

Manager servers using the same IP address.
For example, if Server1 is an InfoPrint Manager AIX server with an IP address
of 9.99.155.122, then all other InfoPrint Manager servers must use
9.99.155.122 to access Server1.
The IP address for each InfoPrint Manager server must be the address that is
identified for the first (or primary) network card that is defined to that server.
must have unique names if they are used by interoperating InfoPrint servers.
If the printer objects do not possess unique names, you might have trouble
viewing them through the InfoPrint Manager Interface from a non-namespace
server.
should be stopped on the secondary servers.
