System x3455 Types 7984 and 7986: User's Guide
Through the Startup Sequence Options menu, you can select up to eight Wake
on LAN startup devices in addition to a maximum of eight other startup devices.
You can specify a startup sequence for the Wake on LAN functions if all of the
following requirements are met:
– The server has Wake on LAN hardware and software.
– The operating system supports Wake on LAN functions.
– You have enabled the Wake on Lan choice on the Startup Sequence
Options menu.
– You have enabled the Planar Ethernet choice on the Startup Sequence
Options menu.
Note: For additional information about Wake on LAN functions, see the
documentation that comes with the operating system, and the Wake on
LAN hardware and software. For additional information about using the
Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) boot agent functions to enable or
disable operating-system wake-up support, see the Broadcom NetXtreme
Gigabit Ethernet Software CD that comes with the server.
If you enable the boot fail count, the BIOS default settings will be restored after
three consecutive failures to find a boot record.
You also can specify that the integrated SATA controller or other devices have
boot priority.
If you plan to use the Boot Menu program, you must first enable the F12 prompt
so that the Boot Menu can be displayed on your monitor. To do this, you must
enable the F12 Boot Menu Prompt menu choice.
Select this choice to view and change settings for advanced hardware features
and to view the system event log information, such as the record, event type,
and timestamp.
Important: The server might malfunction if these settings are incorrectly
configured. Follow the instructions on the screen carefully.
This choice is on the full Configuration/Setup Utility menu only.
– Memory Settings
Select this choice to view the settings for the DIMMs. The only valid
configuration change is to Enable the DIMMs.
– CPU Options
Select this choice to view, set, and change other memory configuration
values. Some of the values on these menus cannot be changed manually;
however, they will change automatically when related configuration values are
changed manually. For example, if you change the value of ECC Mode on the
ECC Options menu, the values of DRAM ECC Scrub Control and ECC
Scrub Redirection also change automatically.
- Memory Controller Options
Select this choice to view and change memory controller configuration
values.
- ECC Options
Select this choice to view and change ECC memory configuration values.
– PCI Bus Control
From this menu, select the PCI Interrupt Routing choice to view and change
the interrupt request (IRQ) settings for the integrated controllers and other
devices.
