Software Manager Reference
The SVS Enabled Package dialog box appears.
3.
Complete the dialog box:
Name
This is the name of the layer. By default it is the package's application and
package name. If you change this name, it does not change the application and
package name. This field is limited to 42 characters.
If the provided layer name already exists on the target computer
Specify how to handle the package if a layer with the same name already exists
on the target computer. The Generate a unique layer name option, generates
a name by replacing the last letter in the name with a number, starting with 1.
Activate Layer
Specify when to activate the layer. If the When installed option is marked, the
layer is activated when it is installed. If the On startup of computer option is
marked, the layer is activated whenever the computer restarts.
Windows Installer Options
(.MSI and .WSI packages only.) You can set Windows Installer command lines
to define how the package is installed. When you click the Edit Command Line
button, the Command Line Builder for Windows Installer dialog box appears.
See Creating a Command Line With the Command Line Builder in the Wise
Package Studio Help.
WiseScript Path
Specify the path of the WiseScript wrapper for the SVS enabled package.
4.
Click OK.
If the package is a .WSI and is checked into revision control, a message appears
stating that the package is checked in. Click Yes to check it out. The .WSI is then
compiled.
A WiseScript (.WSE) wrapper and its compiled .EXE are created in the directory
specified on the SVS Enabled Package dialog box.
When the repackaging process is completed and a package is ready for distribution to
end users, you can use Package Distribution to share or deploy the package. With this
tool, you can copy a package to a network directory or to an FTP server. You can also
create a Windows Installer administrative installation. You can even move a Group
Policy Object for a Windows Installer package to the Microsoft® Active Directory
Services.
You can run Package Distribution from Workbench or from Software Manager. What's
the difference? Typically, when you run Package Distribution from Workbench, you
distribute a project file or the compiled installable file from its source directory, such as
the Workbench project directory. When you distribute from Software Manager, you
distribute installable files only (examples: .MSI or .EXE files) from the Software Manager
database. Therefore, when you run Package Distribution from Software Manager, the
options to distribute to the share point directory and to distribute a project file are not
available.
If the package's installation is open in Windows Installer Editor, close it before
distributing the package.
