Changing the Package Status

Software Manager Reference
Example: You have a group of applications that run reports and use the Crystal Report
runtime, and you need to update this runtime in each of these applications. You create a
macro that updates the runtime and runs when you compile. You then use the multi-
package compile option in Software Manager to compile the packages. Because the
macro runs when you compile, the packages get updated and compiled.
Note
The packages must be in the Software Manager database.
To compile multiple packages
1.
(Enterprise Management Server only.) If multiple databases are open, select a
database in the Applications/Packages pane.
2.
Select Tools menu > Multi-Package Compile.
The Select Packages dialog box appears. It displays all .MSI and .WSI packages that
are in the Software Manager database.
3.
Complete the dialog box:
a.
Select the packages to compile.
b.
To perform the operation server-side, mark Perform this operation on the
Wise Package Studio server. With Enterprise Management Server, Security
Setup determines whether this option appears.
See Performing Server-Side Operations in the Wise Package Studio Help.
c.
Mark Check out from Revision Control to check these packages out of
Revision Control. This option appears only if you use the Wise Revision Control
System. When the operation is completed, you must check the package back
into Revision Control manually.
See
Checking Packages Out of Revision Control
4.
Click Finish.
The Revision Control Status dialog box appears if one of the following is true:
A selected package is checked out by another user.
A selected package is checked in and the Check out from Revision Control
option is not marked.
The dialog box explains how the listed packages will be processed. To proceed, click
OK.
The Wise Task Manager dialog box appears and remains open until the task is
completed. However, you can close or minimize the dialog box and continue your
work in Wise Package Studio.
See Wise Task Manager in the Wise Package Studio Help.
Use Software Manager to maintain the status of packages in the Software Manager
database. The package status helps you determine whether a package is ready to be
deployed to end users.
With Enterprise Management Server, Security Setup determines whether you can
change the package status.
