  • Page 12 If you don’t have an open port on your router, you can disconnect your computer from the router and connect it to the ZonePlayer or ZoneBridge instead. Then you can connect the Sonos component into the router port the computer was previously plugged into.

    Adding to an Existing Sonos System Add an iPhone or iPod touch The Sonos Controller for iPhone application turns your iPhone or iPod touch into a full- fledged Sonos Controller. The Sonos Controller for iPhone requires an iPhone or iPod touch connected to your wireless router, and at least one Sonos ZonePlayer to operate.

  • Page 23 Chapter 1: Setting Up the Sonos® Multi-Room Music System Add a ZonePlayer Note: If you are replacing the Sonos component (ZonePlayer or ZoneBridge) that is currently connected to your router, first add the new ZonePlayer to your music system (see steps below). You can then unplug the original device from your router, replace it with the new ZonePlayer, and move the original Sonos component to a new location.

Plug it into the power adapter, and then follow the handheld Controller’s on-screen prompts to add it to your music system (you can use the Controller while it is charging.)     Sonos Controller for iPhone Now you can use your iPhone or iPod touch with Sonos to enjoy the music you love all around your home. The Sonos Controller for iPhone is a free application that turns your iPhone (or iPod touch) into a full-fledged Sonos Controller—simply pick a room, pick a song, and touch Play Now.

    Queue Tap the Queue button to view the tracks in the current queue. Home Tap the Home button to close the Sonos Controller application. Information Tap the Information button to view additional choices or view more information for a music selection.

    Chapter 2: Sonos Controller for iPhone Playback Controls Use the playback controls to control basic playback tasks such as playing, pausing, rewinding, and fast forwarding. Play/Pause Toggles between playing and pausing the current track. Next / Fast Forward Jumps to the start of the next track in the music queue.

    To awaken your iPhone, tap the Sleep button or the Home button and then slide your finger to unlock it. If your iPhone goes to sleep with the Sonos Controller open, it will redisplay the same screen it was on when it went to sleep.

    Chapter 2: Sonos Controller for iPhone Turn Off Your Sonos System Your Sonos Multi-Room Music System is designed to be always on; the system uses minimal electricity whenever it is not playing music. To stop streaming music in all zones, you can simply tap Pause All from the Zone menu. To stop streaming music in one zone, you can simply tap the Pause button on the Now Playing screen.

Your ZonePlayers and Controllers will all be updated, as your Sonos components must carry the same software version number.

    You can connect an external source such as a CD player, portable music player, or television to your Sonos Multi-Room Music System. This audio can be streamed to any ZonePlayer(s) in your house. (You may experience sound distortion at higher volume levels if you set the level too high.)

    Managing Zones What is a zone? A zone is just another word for a room in your house—Sonos lets you enjoy music in up to 32 rooms, inside or out. We call them zones because you can group rooms together to play the same song in every room, or you can play different songs in different rooms.

    You can use the Desktop Controller software to make changes to the shared folders Sonos accesses. You may need to make changes if you add a computer to your home network, or if you move shared folders from one location to another.

    If you’re a Last.fm customer, you’ve got everything you need to start enjoying Last.fm on your Sonos system. Sonos connects directly to Last.fm so you can listen to Last.fm radio stations, create new stations, and use scrobbling to personalize your listening experience.

    You can set a preference to have your music selections scrobbled while listening to Last.fm on your Sonos system. This means that every song you listen to is sent to Last.fm and used to create a personal music profile on Last.fm's Website, which in turn you can share, or use to discover more music you love.
