REMOVING THE FRONT COVER

(MAINTENANCE).
Place the vehicle on the centre stand,
see page 39 (PLACING THE VEHICLE
ON THE STAND).
Unscrew and remove the two screws (1).
Pull up to release the front cover front
panel.
Remove the cover support panel (2).
NOTE
Upon reassembly, fit the tabs
correctly in the appropriate seats.

REMOVING THE REAR BRAKE

(MAINTENANCE).
WARNING
A dirty disc will soil the pads, leading to
loss of braking efficiency. Dirty pads
must be replaced, while dirty discs
must be cleaned with a high-quality
degreaser.
Riding with damaged discs will put your
safety, that of other persons and the
vehicle at risk.
Check the conditions of the rim and
have it changed if it is damaged.

While disassembling and reassembling
the wheel, be careful not to damage the
brake pipes, the discs and the pads.
Place the vehicle on the centre stand,
see page 39 (PLACING THE VEHICLE
ON THE STAND).
Manually turn the wheel so that the gap
between two spokes corresponds to the
brake calliper (2).
Unscrew and remove the two screws (1).
Remove the oil plug and remove the rear
wheel, if necessary, see page 46
(REAR WHEEL).
Brake calliper screws (1) driving torque:

27 Nm (2.7 kgm).
On reassembly, use Loctite 243 on the
screws (1).
NOTE
renew the screws (1) securing the calliper (2).
Do not operate the brake lever when the
callipers are not in place, or the pistons
might fall out leading to brake fluid
spillage.
Should it be the case, please contact an
aprilia Authorised Dealer, that will carry
out the necessary service operations.
