12.3 Commissioning procedure
Requirements
• The CPUs are in the "Factory settings" state or have been reset to factory settings. You can
find more information in the Resetting CPUs to factory settings (Page 466) section.
• The CPUs have the same article numbers.
• The SIMATIC memory cards are as delivered or have been formatted and are not write-
protected.
• The two CPUs of the S7-1500R/H redundant system have the same firmware version. You
can find more information in the Firmware update (Page 461) section.
Procedure for commissioning SIMATIC S7-1500R/H
To commission the S7-1500R/H redundant system, we recommend the following procedure:

1 Configure hardware in STEP 7
2 Create user program
3 Insert required modules
4 Wire the configuration (lines for supply voltage, PROFINET ring or line
topology, redundancy connections) and check it.
5 Insert SIMATIC memory cards in the CPUs
6 Switch on CPUs, optional system power/load current supply, and dis-
tributed I/O
7 CPU pairing
8 Assign CPUs redundancy IDs
9 Check LEDs
10 Evaluate information on the CPU displays
11 Load hardware configuration and user program to the CPUs
12 Test inputs and outputs
