Connection
Connect this unit to the remote control unit connector
of the recorder or player. The connector name depends
on the recorder or player type, as show in the table
below.

Power is automatically supplied to this unit from the
recorder or player.
Operation
The tape transport buttons of this unit function the
same as those on the recorder or player. Recording,
playback, fast forward, rewind and pause can be
remotely controlled from this unit.
Index Search (for SVO-9500MD/
9500MDP)
When the recorder is an SVO-9500MD/9500MDP, this
function allows you to mark locations on a tape by
writing index markers, then later to move rapidly to
these locations.
Notes:
e Set the PROGRAM switch on the SVO-9500MD/
9500MDP to the OFF position.
e The index search function is only available when
using this remote control unit.

Writing index markers
The index markers are represented on the tape by a
VISS (VHS Index Search System) signal, recorded for
about 2.1 seconds.
There are two modes for writing the markers:
automatic and manual. The selection is made by a
menu setting, and the automatic mode is the factory
default.
