Owner maintenance precautions
Improper or incomplete service may
result in problems. This section gives
instructions only for the maintenance
items that are easy to perform.
WARNING
僅 Performing maintenance work on a
vehicle can be dangerous. You can be
seriously injured whilst performing
some maintenance procedures. If you
lack sufficient knowledge and experi -
ence or the proper tools and equip -
ment to do the work, have the system
serviced by a professional workshop.
Kia recommends to visit an authorised
Kia dealer/service partner.
僅 Working under the bonnet with the
engine running is dangerous. It
becomes even more dangerous when
you wear jewelry or loose clothing.
These can become entangled in mov -
ing parts and result in injury. There -
fore, if you must run the engine whilst
working under the bonnet, make cer -
tain that you remove all jewelry (espe -
cially rings, bracelets, watches, and
necklaces) and all neckties, scarves,
and similar loose clothing before get -
ting near the engine or cooling fans.
CAUTION
僅 Do not put heavy objects or apply
excessive force on top of the engine
cover (if equipped) or fuel related
parts.
僅 When you inspect the fuel system
(fuel lines and fuel injection devices),
contact a professional workshop. Kia
recommends to visit an authorised Kia
dealer/service partner.
僅 Do not drive long time with the engine
cover removed.
僅 When checking the engine room, do
not go near fire. Fuel, washer fluid,
etc. are flammable oils that may cause
fire.
僅 Before touching the battery, ignition
cables and electrical wiring, you
should disconnect the battery connec -
tor. You may get an electric shock
from the electric current.
僅 When you remove the interior trim
cover with a flat bed (-) driver, be
careful not to damage the cover.
僅 Be careful when you replace and
clean bulbs to avoid burns or electri -
cal shock.
